Philippines, 2 October 2025 — Arcadis participated in the Mainstreaming ESG in PPP Projects, a roundtable hosted by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines on 25 September 2025, at First Maritime Place, Makati City. Bringing together leaders from both public and private sectors, the event aimed toward efforts to embed Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in organizational operations and infrastructure development across the Philippines.
Mary Rose Santillan, Civil and Environmental Engineer from the Project Development Service of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center, opened the session with an overview of the evolving PPP landscape. Santillan highlighted the legal framework, a robust pipeline of 232 national and local projects, and the growing integration of ESG standards in PPPs. Santillan also presented real-world examples, such as the North-South Commuter Railway and the San Ramon Newport Project, to illustrate how ESG criteria are being embedded in these major initiatives.
Meanwhile, Arcadis Philippines Inc.'s Sustainability Solutions team shared practical strategies from the “Road to Net Zero” whitepaper, highlighting the urgent need for organizations to move from vision to action.
Team representative Corinne Malolos emphasized, “At first glance, ESG may seem organization-focused. But looking closer, the Planet Pillar plays a critical role in scaling sustainable development.”
The presentation outlined steps organizations can take to build resilience and deliver measurable impact. Through real-world client examples, Malolos demonstrated how setting clear targets and facilitating collaborative workshops empower organizations to align with global standards, achieve net zero goals, and contribute meaningfully to the Philippines’ climate resilience and sustainable future.
A dynamic open floor discussion, facilitated by Executive Director Mitchel Smolders of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, sparked insightful questions and lively exchanges among speakers and attendees. The session underscored the importance of collaboration, knowledge sharing, scalable solutions, and innovation in accelerating the Philippines toward a more sustainable future.
The event concluded with Arcadis Philippines Inc. Sustainability Solutions Service Line Director Katherine Ann Resurreccion highlighting that real progress on sustainability requires bold action and strong partnerships. Resurreccion reiterated Arcadis’ commitment to supporting the Philippines’ journey to net zero by sharing knowledge, setting new standards, and helping embed ESG principles into every stage of infrastructure and building projects—ultimately creating resilient, future-ready communities for generations to come.
