Brussels, 12 December 2025 – Silvia Gioja, BIM Lead at design and engineering firm Arcadis, was named Woman of the Year 2025 in the ‘Technology’ category by ELLE Magazine on December 11. She received this title for her role in sustainable urban engineering and her innovative approach to complex infrastructure projects.
“Silvia is known for her forward-thinking vision and her commitment to making the construction sector future-proof,” said the jury. In particular, her leading role in impactful projects such as the redevelopment of the Brussels Ring Road (R0) was praised. The award ceremony took place at Bozar in Brussels.

About Silvia
Silvia Gioja was born in Italy and moved to Belgium, where she started working at Arcadis. Here, she grew into the role of BIM Lead for the Belgian infrastructure team, passionate about making a real difference in the mobility sector. She focuses on connecting technology and engineering to create smarter, more sustainable solutions that benefit both people and the planet. Silvia leads projects using digital tools like BIM to improve how we design and build major infrastructure and smart cities. Her drive comes from a love of innovation and problem-solving, and a belief that digital transformation can make engineering more inclusive, accessible, and valuable for everyone – not just the industry, but society as a whole.
In 2021, she was awarded the WICE Award for Best Woman in Tunnelling & Underground Construction. About her recognition, she said at the time: “This award is just a starting point and greatly motivates me to inspire other women to take the step into our sector and contribute to leading construction and infrastructure projects.”
