OWEA awards Chad Dunn Lifetime Engineering Achievement Award

Arcadis, a global leader in intelligence-driven sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets, today announced that Chad Dunn, vice president at Arcadis, has received the Lifetime Engineering Achievement Award from the Ohio Water Environment Association (OWEA).

The Lifetime Engineering Achievement Award recognizes individuals whose career contributions have significantly benefited the water environment profession in Ohio. OWEA, a nonprofit association comprised of engineers, scientists, and water professionals, is devoted to preserving and enhancing water quality throughout the state.

With over 29 years in the water engineering industry, Dunn has led numerous transformative projects that have improved water quality, enhanced wastewater treatment systems, and safeguarded Ohio’s natural ecosystems. Highlights from his career include serving as the design leader for the $100 million 440-MGD influent pumping station at the Southerly Wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) for the City of Columbus, and as project manager for the addition of 110-MGD Chemically Enhanced Primary Treatment (CEPT) at the same facility. Dunn also oversaw the addition of Cogeneration Facilities at the Jackson Pike WWTP for Columbus, a project expected to save the city nearly $1.5 million annually in energy costs.

In addition to his contributions in Columbus, Dunn served as project manager for the development of a new $90 million 8-MGD North Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and design leader for the 4-MGD Upper Hocking Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF) in Lancaster, Ohio, one of the state’s largest membrane bioreactor WWTPs. Beyond Ohio’s borders, Dunn contributed as design leader for the $78 million 200-MGD influent pumping station at the Hartford, CT WWTP, as part of its Wet Weather Expansion Project.

Dunn’s selection underscores his exceptional contributions to the field of water engineering and environmental stewardship. The accolade, reserved for professionals who demonstrate decades of impactful work in advancing water quality and infrastructure, celebrates Dunn’s unwavering commitment to protecting Ohio’s water resources and improving the state’s environmental sustainability.

Dunn said:This recognition is truly humbling. Protecting Ohio’s water environment has always been my passion, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to contribute to this vital cause alongside so many dedicated professionals.

Matt Carpenter, Midwest Region Director at Arcadis, said: “Chad’s incredible career and enduring contributions have left an enduring mark on the water environment industry. His steadfast commitment to excellence exemplifies the values of Arcadis and the water industry.
